Modal Guitar Scales

The following Modal Guitar Scales are derived from the modes of the major scale and are extremely useful in all kinds of music.

Root notes for the major scale-types are shown in Red

Root notes for the minor scale-types are shown in Blue

I have shown 2 octaves of each, begining and ending with the Root notes, so that you will be able to get an idea of the 'sound' or 'mood' of a particular scale-type when used in a solo.

To play any of them in a particular key, just move the pattern up or down the neck so that the Root note is on the correct note name on the fretboard (ie. the same note as the key name).
