Intervals

Intervals are the distances between any two notes, whether they are played harmonically (as in a chord) or melodically (as in a tune). They are measured in semitones.

You probably know more of them than you think. For instance, you will come across octaves, thirds and fifths even as a beginner.

I teach them from a practical standpoint so that my students not only know what they are, but also know how to make use of them in their playing.

The audio tracks on this page contain recordings that will help you get the individual sounds into your ear.

This way you will know what they sound like in your head before you even play them!

They were played using C as the root note. The tab diagram shows how it was played on the guitar.

I will be adding more details as time allows if there is any interest shown for this page.
