You can learn some really useful Guitar Scales here.

I'll start with some of the most common and useful, and if there's enough interest, I'll go on to some of the more obscure and exotic scales.

For total beginners, I always recommend starting with the Pentatonic Scale since it's the easiest to remember and play.

Here's an important point to note:

Music is all about scales and you will need to play them fluently in all keys. Chords are made up of scale notes, so the two always go hand-in-hand.

This means that you will have to learn the names of the notes on the fretboard. You can go to the Guitar Fretboard Chart for help with this.
